Bowling

Today Mike & Joan, John & Sissy and Dave & I all decided to go to Cliff Castle Casino for the buffet lunch and try our hand at bowling. I don’t think we have to worry about any bowling league knocking on our door but we had a great time. I managed to get 2 strikes, but rolled more gutter balls than that! The guys did better than the ladies but with the high score (John) at 122 none of us set the world on fire. For most of us it had been about 30 years since we had bowled…guess we were just rusty... :o)  ....check out the video below:

Rescheduling

Our site - the one with the (rental) car
The pickup is still in the shop getting the hail damage fixed.  Originally we were to pick it up this Friday but after stopping by the shop today we found out it's going to be more like Wednesday the 27th.   Since we are scheduled to  leave Thousand Trails on the 28th that is cutting it kinda close!  We had to extend the rental car plus on Monday the 25th we had an appointment to have the trailer roof inspected at Affinity RV in Prescott . Now the plan is to stop there the 28th after we leave Thousand Trails.   Hope it all works out!!!

Two couples we met last spring arrived here, Mike & Joan and John & Sissy.   We all get together everyday at 4 P.M. for happy hour and to swap stories and laugh a lot.  It’s been a fun time.

This morning I took the camera and Cheye up on a nearby hill and looked around for some photo opportunities.  Had to look pretty close for some of these flowers…they are so tiny!  I put the camera lens cover beside some flowers to give you perspective…the cover is about 2 inches across so you can see just how little those pink flowers are.

The house on the left has quite a view!

Repair time

In Thousand Trails Verde Valley
Happy 10-10-10!

Tomorrow we take the pickup in to repair the body damage from the hail storm. Happily our insurance not only covers the repair but also the rental car we will need while they are fixing it. So far working with our insurance company has been really great. They have been quick and right on top of everything. We will take the trailer in to get checked over once we get the pickup back. It looks okay but the rubber coating on the roof is dented and we want it checked just in case. The tail lights and one roof vent are toast so we’ll get those fixed.

The last few days have been beautiful, warm afternoons and cool nights. A lot of RV’s came in yesterday and today so the park is filling up. Snowbirds heading south..

Dave and I bought Kindle’s a couple weeks ago and are really enjoying them. They have a couple free unscramble-the-word games that I downloaded and a number of free books too. It’s quite handy to be able to carry around a few books in one little electronic reader. No more having to tote around a bunch of paperbacks in the trailer!

A few people wanted to see the damage to the pickup...kinda hard to get the dents to show up in a photo but here ya go :

Hood and fender, kinda hard to get them all to show up in a photo, but you get the idea

The body shop circled some of the dents

Hail

I was up most of the night, between the flash of the lightning and the roar of the thunder it was hard to get much sleep. Then about 4:00 - 4:30 the hail hit, and they were BIG hailstones. It was deafening! Seemed like it went for about 10 - 15 minutes but neither of us really checked the clock. We knew we lost the vent cover for the roof vent in the bedroom, we could see the cracks and then the rain started leaking in. Once the hail stopped we went out to check what we could, looks like we made out pretty good...other neighbors were out and some lost air conditioner covers, windshields, vent covers and even some of the awnings over the slides!  RV's and hail storms just don't mix!  The sun isn't up yet so we don't know if there are dings in the pickup...guess we will see in while.  I know they have had lots of damage in the Phoenix area, I'm sure it is all through central Arizona.

Hail outside our trailer

I just grabbed a few of the hailstones ... you can see how they would do damage!

More clouds

Storm clouds at sunset are just so amazing...at least here in Cottonwood, AZ they were this evening. By the time I went out to take some shots I think most everyone was out with their camera! Here is why:

It's been  a bit stormy on and off today, a little lightning and rain, some sun and in the 80's. Not bad at all! We spent the day reading, watching NASCAR, surfing the net and chatting with neighbors. A very pleasant Sunday

Storm Clouds

We've been having a few little thunderstorms along with a bit of rain and wind today in Cottonwood,AZ. I thought it might  be a great sunset night with all the clouds, I wasn't disappointed!

We haven't been doing anything particularly noteworthy,  just reading, relaxing and enjoying ourselves...just enjoying full-timing!
