Chilly

It was cloudy today and only up to about 50 degrees . Without the sun shining it really felt quite cool, everyone outside was bundled up in coats. Since we are above 3,000 ft. elevation here it isn’t as warm as other parts of Arizona. We stayed inside most of the day, only getting outside to walk Cheye.

Tomorrow we move back to the Thousand Trails campground in Cottonwood, AZ for a couple weeks. We’ve enjoyed our week at Western Horizon Camp Verde, AZ. The campground is clean and the people are very friendly. What more could we ask? :o)

Another short post

We had a good time playing cards last night. There were 10 of us and the game was fun and simple so we were able to catch on fairly easily.

Today was a home day. Laundry, internet, walks, the usual. This evening we will be going to the Thousand Trails park in Cottonwood, AZ to have dinner with Ron and Marilyn. We have never gone to a Thousand Trails park when we weren’t camping there. Marilyn said they would leave our name at the Ranger Station and all we will have to do is show our membership cards. Normally it costs $5.00 for visitors. We are bringing dinner tonight… pizza… no cooking again… I love it!

Card game

It was a real stay-at-home day. A little cloudy and a little cooler today - mid 50’s. Besides taking Cheye out for walks we went over to the campground’s café and had lunch. While there we were invited to play cards at the lodge tonight. I warned them that I am not much of a card player but they assured me that it was a really easy game, so we’re going to give it a try!

Just back from cards. They played Shanghai Rummy which was fairly easy and we had a fun time!

A Regular Day

This morning was a typical morning; reading, computing, walking Cheye. Dave did a little reorganizing of the storage under the trailer and I did one load of laundry and worked a little on my cross stitching. We decided to go in to Cottonwood after lunch, Dave needed a prescription refilled so we went in to Walmart. We did a little shopping while waiting for the prescription and then headed back to the trailer.

On our way back to Camp Verde we decided to turn on to Thousand Trails Road and check out the BLM land just before you get to Thousand Trails park. There seems to be a number of people boon docking out there so we thought we’d scope it out. Looks like a place to keep in mind.

Some books and some Christmas

This morning we decided to go in to the town of Camp Verde just to see what was there. It is about 2 miles from the campground and is a cute little town. We saw a used book store and decided to drop in there. It had quite a few books and was combined with an arts store so it was fun to look at what the local artists had created along with looking for a couple books. We made our selections and went to the cash register, we had mentioned to the clerk earlier that we were RVer’s and while making our purchase she asked what park we were staying at. When we told her Western Horizon we found out our books were ½ price! We may go back there soon!

After lunch I baked some brownies in anticipation of the Christmas decorating party tonight. They were going to serve soup and bread and everyone was to bring a dessert to share. It sounded like fun so we went and did enjoy ourselves. We met a few more people and enjoyed helping out with the decorating.

Camp Verde, Arizona

We made our big move from the Thousand Trail Verde Valley Preserve in Cottonwood, AZ to the Western Horizon Camp Verde park in Camp Verde, AZ. It’s about a 7 mile trip to the south. The campground is plain but nice.

We got set up and then took Cheye for a little walk. The Verde River runs along one side of the park so we headed over there. Not a big river but it was a very swift current so no swimming for Cheye. From there we walked over to the campground’s café for lunch and had a burger ($4.00) that came with fries and baked beans. There were a few people there, all very friendly so we had a nice chat with them all. The rest of the afternoon was spent surfing the net and relaxing in the sunshine. This evening we decided to go to La Fonda Mexican restaurant, really good food. Two meals out in one day… my favorite way to cook!
