Crater Lake and the High Desert Museum

Our visit to Crater Lake with John and Sissy was fabulous.    Great company,  wonderful weather and beautiful scenery.  I wish the photos were as beautiful as it was in person!

The day after our Crater Lake trip we visited  the High Desert Museum.  I’m really not a big museum fan and for the price ($14.00 per person)  this one seemed a little pricey for what was there.  However, it was a good outing with friends!  Here are a few pics:

Time to catch up…

Let’s see…last time I blogged we were in Washington staying in Dave’s brother’s backyard in Rochester…which is were we stayed until Aug 17th.   Well, there were a couple side trips,  I rode the train down to Vancouver, WA and stayed with my Mom a couple times and we went back to Randle, WA for a few days.

The Randle trip was to attend our friend Keith’s surprise birthday party   Keith knew family and a few friends were coming, but around 40 -50 people ended up at their property.  We stayed 3 days, some were there longer, some just for the day, but I think it is safe to say everyone had a terrific time.  Here’s a few pics:

Since I stole some pics from Sissy I thought I should post a pic of her in the horse shoe tournament too!

From Randle it was back to Rochester  for a little more visiting with Dave’s brother & sister-in-law…then we were off  to Seaside, OR for 2 weeks.  We met up with our friends Mike & Joan and John & Sissy at the Thousand Trails park in Seaside.  Both couples were at Randle too…it’s been great to meet up with friends all summer.  We had a good time in Seaside, even had “happy hour” down at the beach a couple times.

Currently we are at Thousand Trails Bend which is about 20 miles south of  Bend, OR.  John & Sissy are also here and we’ve been busy.  Yesterday we all went to Crater Lake and today it was the High Desert Museum and lunch/dinner at Anthony’s.  I’ll  post some pics of our excursions either tomorrow or the next day…I haven’t had time to sort through them yet!

Washington State

Near Randle, WA

We’ve been in Washington for about a month now and have been busy visiting friends and family.  Currently we are parked in Dave’s brother’s (Jim) backyard, same place we stayed last summer.  It’s a great spot, we even have our own little yard.  Cheye has a big backyard to roam and  a buddy to play with too.

Camping at Randle
Over Independence Day weekend we met up with our friends Mike & Joan (fulltimers we met in Arizona) near Randle, WA. Their friends Keith & Bobbi have some property there all set up for camping.  One other couple we hadn’t met before, Steve & Elaine, was also there and the 8 of us had a great time.   The weather was fabulous and scenery amazing.  On the 4th we moved the trailer back to Jim’s and then drove up to Tacoma where Keith & Bobbi had their 45 ft. boat docked.  We joined them and their family along with Mike & Joan and other friends for a 4th of July party.  Again, we had a great time, lots of delicious food and fun people.

The time is flying by here…so far we’ve had a fabulous summer!

In Oregon

Our site at TT Bend

After one night in Alturas, CA we arrived at Thousand Trails Bend on May 11th.  The park is actually in Sun River, OR which is a bit south of Bend.     This park closes over the winter , actually they haven‘t opened the whole park yet…there are probably only about 20 RV’s here right now.  It’s pretty chilly, we’ve had to break out our long pants and sweatshirts.  Today was especially cool, as a matter of fact we had some rain/snow mix fall this afternoon.

Except for one trip to La Pine we haven’t left the park.  It’s such a pretty park, very wooded and quiet…love the tangy smell of the pine trees.  It’s a great walking and relaxing park…which is exactly what we’ve been doing!
